Tyndall National Institute
The Tyndall National Institute (www.tyndall.ie) has an immediate vacancy for a post-doctoral researcher to investigate the physics of carrier transport, carrier capture and recombination processes in InGaN/AlGaInN quantum well based active regions.
The researcher will develop theoretical models for these processes and investigate strategies to negate the internal fields and to achieve optical gain at long wavelengths. Existing programs may be used to assist with the calculations. The research will be closely allied with the epitaxy process and characterisation of materials and devices. Analysis of the data will be performed to relate the specific characteristics of the grown structures to the device models. Experience with modeling of fundamental processes in GaN materials at the PhD level is required. The initial contract is for 12 months.
